The Girl Movie Review 2001

Stylish lesbian love story has a Paris artist meeting sultry nightclub singer and initiating a one-night stand which becomes a torrid affair. This upsets the club owner, who considers the singer his property. First time director (and co-writer) Zeig has confidence and an eye for subtle nuance, but occasionally wanders into pretentiousness (an occupational hazard for a first-time director).
