Double Whammy Movie Review 2001

DiCillo's attempt at Tarantino crimedy doesn't quite work out. Leary is Ray Pluto, a cop with a trick back with lousy timing and a past that haunts him. When his back gives out during a restaurant shooting, he's put on desk duty and sent to sexy chiropractor Hurley, who eventually heals his love life as well as his vertebrae. Weak subplots include his building super's attempted murder by his daughter, and a screenwriting duo who also, coincidentally, want to be the next Tarantino. Occasionally inspired, but DiCIllo can't make the comedy and romance fit with the sometimes brutal violence.
