David (Donovan) is a New York City plumber who is tired of being taken for granted by snobs. So he steals the unproduced screenplay of writer/neighbor Toni (Parker) and pretends to be a casting director with the help of industry pal R.J. (Carroll). He holds auditions for his nonexistant movie and suddenly the buzz is that the film is hot and everyone wants a piece of the action, including Toni, who feeds the clueless David appropriate showbiz lines. The cast is good but the film turns out to be mildly amusing rather than satiric.
