Gus Bishop (Eigeman) is a struggling New York artist who meets con man Deech Scumble (Harris) when Deech steals his wallet and, later, a painting. Deech sells the painting, signed "GB," to art gallery owner Arthur (Granger) by inventing a tragic background for the artist he's renamed Geoff Buonardi. Deech manages to convince Gus to continue the scam since his new artistic persona is making them a lot of money. But soon more and more people become aware of the deception.
