That would be the Cannes Film Festival where everyone is hustling in one way or another. American actress Alice (Scacchi) is looking for financing for her first directorial effort and offers the lead to aging actress Millie Marquand (Aimee). But Millie has been offered major moolah to play a mother role in a big studio pic by desperate producer Rick Yorkin (Silver). Then there's Millie's flagrantly unfaithful director/husband Viktor (Schell), wheeler-dealer Kaz (Norman), and Blue (Gabrielle), a starlet promoting an indie pic that's an unexpected hit, as well as numerous other associates, assistants, and hangers-on.
