Teeanger Jean (Hamidi) has run away from the farm work his father (Bierbichler) expects from him. He goes to see his brother Georges (Neuvic), a war photographer, in Paris. Although Georges is frequently away, Jean stays with Georges' lover Anne (Binoche) in their apartment. On the street, Jean insults Romanian beggar Maria (Gheorghiu) and gets into a scuffle with young black teacher Amadou (Yenke) over Jean's lack of respect. The characters lives continue to interact in random ways. French and Romanian with subtitles.
