Tom Greener (Berenger) and Kage Mulligan (Reynolds) have seen their acting careers fade away as has that of veteran actor Floyd Benson (Steiger). The three get together to drink and talk at the foot of the Hollywood sign where they happen to stumble across the body of a dead gangster. Doing some investigating, the trio discover a plot to steal millions from a Vegas casino. They include Tom's girlfriend Paula (Kim) in their plan to get the money, finance Paula's script, and jump start their careers.
