Based on the true story of the 1971 Attica prison riots in New York State where nearly 50 people were killed and the state tried to avoid accountablility for its role in the massacre. Civil rights attorney Ernie Goodman (Alda) defends inmate Shango (Chestnut) who's been wrongly accused of a double homicide during the melee.
