Varian's War Movie Review 2001

Based on the true story of American Varian Fry (Hurt), who is the editor of a foreign affairs publication when he witnesses the Nazi rise in Berlin and decides he must help Europe's Jews despite American neutrality. He heads off to Marseilles where a number of artists and intellectuals wait to escape Vichy France and establishes an underground rescue organization.
