A "with friends like these, who needs enemies" movie that leaves a sour aftertaste. Kate (MacDowell), Janine (Staunton), and Molly (Chancellor) are three professional women in their 40s who live in a small English town and meet weekly to drink and commiserate about their lousy love lives. That is, until sexily repressed American headmistress Kate sets off sparks with hottie twentysomething Jed (Doughty), an organist and former pupil. Her friends are outraged and turn distinctly nasty trying to break up the happy twosome. Maybe they're jealous that Kate is having great sex and they're not.
