Your average year 2020 post-apocalyptic world scenario: Fire-breathing dragons rule the earth. Yes, the film has dragons as the bad guys. These long dormant, London tunnel-dwelling beasties are out to incinerate what's left of humankind, which ain't much. Enter multi-tattooed, macho American Van Zan (McConaughey), British fireman (Bale), and a foxy blond helicopter pilot (Scorupco), who hook up to give the nasty critters a taste of their own medicine. By the looks of this rag tag reptile posse, apparently personal grooming has gone by the wayside in the near futuristic world and the filmmakers saw to it that character development and semi-believable plot went along with it, too. Throwaway humor scores points for the humans but after the dust settles, the cool FX dragons definitely come out on top.
