Sayles returns with a tale of developers invading a northern Florida resort island and the effect on the locals. Of the excellent ensemble, a superb Falco is the unsatisfied Marly, who runs a fleabag motel/restaurant, inherited from her blind, retired father (Waite). The Sea-Vue was her parents' dream but not hers. With a few failed relationships and many shots of tequila under her belt, Marly meets architect Jack (Hutton), one of the pack of real estate sharks after her property. Bassett is Desiree, who returns to her neighboring hometown in an attempt to reconcile with her mother (Alice), whose own island dream home was a nightmare for Desiree growing up. Not so much big biz vs. the little people as a coming to terms with life, family and the past.
