First-rate international espionage thriller loosely based on the first book (published in 1981) of Robert Ludlum's trilogy, previously filmed as a 1988 TV miniseries starring Richard Chamberlain. A young man (Damon) gets fished out of the ocean with a couple of bullet holes and amnesia--his only clue a numbered Swiss account. This reveals he has multiple identities, including that of Jason Bourne, who has an apartment in Paris. To get there, Bourne pays free-spirited Marie (Potente) for a ride. As Bourne tries to piece his past together, he learns he's a highly efficient assassin for a covert CIA operation and his boss (Cooper) considers him a rogue operative and is trying to kill him.
