Modern and entertaining animated tale of problem child Lilo, a Hawaiian orphan being raised by her sister, who finds an unlikely soulmate when she adopts Stitch, a strange little alien banished from his home planet, who hides out in an animal shelter. Stitch is rife with socially unacceptable behavior (including naughty words, drooling, and spitting food) and creates chaos everywhere they go, which worsens Lilo's situation with a concerned social worker investigating her upbringing. Kiddies will love the sassy humor and gross-out behavior while parents will love the Elvis references (and songs), and the message of ohana--the Hawaiian word for family. Disney resurrected the appealing hand drawn and watercolored animation, unused since 1942's "Bambi."
