In 2054 Washington, D.C., a law enforcement agency employs seers called Pre-Cogs to anticipate homicides. Cruise plays John Anderton, chief of the Pre-Crime unit, created to go after potential perps before they can commit the crime. When one of the Pre-Cogs names Anderton as a suspect, however, he's forced to go on the run. Realistic mix of 19th century tradition (classic architecture) and cool, new innovations (retinal scanning robotic spiders), blend into a detailed and believable future world. Engaging story and interesting characters help pic race along, figuratively and literally, with visual sophistication and technical wizardry that Spielberg does so well. Based on a 1956 short story by Philip K. Dick.
