A Rumor of Angels Movie Review 2000

Cloying coming-of-age tale somewhat redeemed by Redgrave's performance as eccentric recluse Maddy Bennett. 12-year-old James (Morgan) is spending the summer on the Maine coast. His mother died in a car accident, he resents his new stepmom Mary (McCormack), doesn't get along with his neglectful father Nathan (Liotta), and also has his misfit Uncle Charlie (Livingston) to deal with. After James vandalizes Maddy's property, the two become unlikely confidantes and Maddy helps him to deal with his problems.
