Diegues's musical drama is adapted from the Vinicius de Moraes play that also inspired Marcel Camus's 1959 film "Black Orpheus." The retelling of the Greek Orpheus and Eurydice tragedy is set during carnivale in Rio and features pop singer Garrido as egotistical songwriter Orfeu who becomes smitten with country girl Eurydice (Franca). Portuguese with subtitles.
