Life with Judy Garland--Me and My Shadows Movie Review 2001

Sharp direction, a solid script that goes beyond the cliches, plus excellent performances (especially by Davis and Blanchard) prevent this telling of the tortured life of Judy Garland from slipping into made-for-TV docudrama hell. Garland's life is followed, from her insecure early teens, through the movie success and the many marriages and the drug addiction that brought her downfall. Based on the book "Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir" by daughter Lorna Luft, who participated in the production.
