In 1905, carnival barker Angus Shaw (Lily) is traveling in Ireland with his girlfriend Lily (Gugino) posing as a mermaid in a sideshow attraction. They meet drunken ex-sailor Woolrich (Morris) who takes them to his home where he has his own attraction--a real live mermaid (Kilhstedt). Angus steals the mermaid and sails for America but the mermaid begins attacking crewman and Lily develops a symbiotic relationship with the creature. Very loosely based on the AIP 1956 B-movie of the same title, this was one of a series of cable remakes under the umbrella title "Creature Features."
