Practical, hardworking John (Lee) and his fiance Elaine (Mann) have saved up enough money for a downpayment on a house. But then John needs the same amount for a family emergency and rather than tell his fiance, he turns to his crackpot best bud Duff (Green) for help in getting the additional cash.
