Champion boxer James "Ice Man" Chambers is locked up in Sweetwater maximum-security prison for rape, which he claims he didn't commit. Snipes is Monroe Hutchens, a lifer at Sweetwater and fellow boxer, sentenced for beating a man to death. Hutchens is also the prison's undefeated champ of the illegal boxing matches set up by a rough prison guard (Rooker). Smacking of real-life boxer Tyson, Chambers desperately tries to find honor in his unhappy situation and wants to be the first to break Hutchen's winning streak, but Monroe has his reasons for avoiding a smack-down with Chambers. Short on dialogue, pic is a well-cast, lean, mean movie machine.
