Darkly satiric look at the military revolves around a supply unit of an American Army base in 1989 Germany. Leader of the pack is the bored, amoral Elwood (Phoenix) who gets his kicks and a few extra bucks by dabbling in the black market, dealing in heroin and illegal weapons, and other equally illicit activities. Soon, the newly prosperous Elwood is basically running things at the base until a new Top Sergeant (Glenn) cracks down. Elwood retaliates by dating Sarge's daughter (Paquin) but finds he's actually falling for her. Premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2001, then waited for a more appropriate release date, which never actually came (it's not exactly complimentary to the military). Based on a novel by Robert O'Connor.
