Kizuna Movie Review 1994

Offbeat Japanese animated tale tells of the relationship between Ranmaru and Enjoji. Ranmaru is a legendary fencing champion until he is hit by a car that is trying to run down Enjoji, who is a mobster's son. After Enjoji nurses Ranmaru back to health, they become a couple. When Kai, another mobster's son, rescues Ranmaru from the clutches of a lecherous professor, he becomes enmeshed with the two, eventually revealing his own crush on Ranmaru. Undistinguished melodrama/comedy; the Ranmaru character is underdeveloped and the story is insubstantial.
