Escanaba in da Moonlight Movie Review 2001

If you're not a "Yooper" or familiar with those denizens of Michigan's Upper Penisula, Daniels's film (based on his play) will probably be lost on you. This is the kind of local humor that rarely travels well. The story is basically a tall tale--middleaged Reuben Soady (Daniels) has reached his advanced years without ever having bagged a deer on his annual hunting trip with his dad (Presnell) and brother (Albright). He is a community laughingstock but that is about to change.
