After a half-century of existence, Barbie finally gets her own movie. Here, she relates (and stars in) the familiar tale of "The Nutcracker." Clara (played by Barbie) is given a nutcracker as a Christmas gift. This enchanted toy leads Clara into a magical world, as she must help the Nutcracker defeat the evil Mouse King. Despite the fact that "The Nutcracker" has been performed countless times, there is a fresh quality to this production. While not matching the level of films such as "Toy Story," the computer animation is quite impressive. Clearly, the film is aimed at young girls, but the colorful animation and the well-paced story made it accessible to a wider audience.
