Hermes--Winds of Love Movie Review 1997

Atmospheric anime adaptation retools the Minotaur and the Labyrinth myth to encompass a battle royal between good Prince Hermes and evil King Minos for control of Greece. First half suffers from meandering exposition but makes up for it in the second half with turbo-charged battle scenes and a killer climax in the bowels of Hades. Fans of anime may be disappointed in the restrained graphic imagery but the mythological setting makes for a nice change of pace from the "Blade Runner"-esque environs made famous by "Akira."
