Frances (Bisset), in her fifties and suffering from cancer, begins reflecting on her life and the daughter she gave up for adoption. Just about this time, her daughter, Rebecca (Plimpton) has been thinking out the her birth mother. Film follows both stories by showing parallels between Frances youth and Rebecca's life. In a subplot, Frances visits old flame (and Rebecca's father) Bob, and ends up bonding with his writer wife Betty. Pic steers perilously close to TV disease-movie-of-the-week territory, but impressive performance by Bisset helps it get by. Interesting melodrama will do if the cable's out and you can't watch Lifetime.
