The gibberish-babbling Pootie Tang (Crouther) was mildly amusing as a three-minute one-joke sketch on "The Chris Rock Show." Stretched to 80 minutes, it turns into "It's Pat 2: Electric Boogaloo." The premise here is that Pootie talks so cool, no one wants to admit they don't have a clue what he's saying. He's also a role model to all the kids and fights crime with his whip-crackin' belt, which he wields like a kung-fu master. Evil captain of industry Lecter (Vaughn) tricks Pootie into endorsing his empire of cigarettes, booze and junk food by using the feminine wiles of slinky Ireenie (Coolidge). Pootie retires in disgrace to his hometown before he can come back and make everything wambly again. Or something like that. It really is hard to figure out what that dude is saying.
