Douglas plays the stable family man pushed to the brink once again in this chilly kidnaping thriller. Dr. Nathan Conrad (Douglas) is a psychiatrist whose idyllic life is shattered when his eight-year-old daughter Jessie (Bartusiak) is kidnaped by a gang of thieves. They threaten to kill his little girl unless he can retrieve a six-digit number locked in the brain of Nathan's new patient Elisabeth (Murphy), a raving lunatic who slashed an orderly to death. Meanwhile, the bad guys have rigged surveillance equipment in his apartment and are menacing his wife Aggie (Janssen), as cop Esposito stumbles across the plot, inadvertently threatening Nathan's efforts. All the plot threads are conveniently tied up in a standard final showdown scene.
