Favreau, who also wrote and directed, teams up again with "Swingers" buddy Vaughn in this tale of two-bit losers trying to weasel their way into the mob. Bobby (Favreau), a past-his-prime boxer and construction worker, chauffeurs his stripper girlfriend Jessica (Janssen) to her gigs at night. Ricky (Vaughn), his irritating, motor-mouthed friend, wants to get mobbed up with crime boss Max (Falk). Hoping to earn enough money to "save" Jessica, Bobby reluctantly agrees. Max sends them to New York with cryptic instructions to follow the orders of slick gangsta Ruiz (Puff Da...um...P. Did...er...Sean Combs). While Bobby tries to follow orders, Ricky's rash behavior lands them in constant trouble. Vaughn's comic riffing occasionally crosses the line into excess, but the chemistry between the two leads is excellent and the laughs are plentiful.
