Chunhyang Movie Review 2000

Romance based on a 13th-century folktale of forbidden love. Chunhyang (Lee) is the educated daughter of a courtesan who is expected to be a plaything for wealthy gentlemen. Instead, she falls in love and secretly marries the higher-caste Mongryong (Cho), who leaves his bride to complete his studies in Seoul. Chunhyang is soon beset by advances from the new governor and, when she refuses, he sentences her to death. Korean with subtitles.
