Chutney Popcorn Movie Review 1999

Amusing and touching comedy about family ties and cultural differences. Reena (Ganatra) is a New York photographer from a very traditional East Indian immigrant family. Her mother Meenu (Jaffrey) is already upset because her daughter is a lesbian but Reena has a chance to get in her good graces when she impulsively agrees to act as a surrogate for her married older sister Sarita (Jaffrey), who is infertile. But the plan upsets Reena's girlfriend Lisa (Hennessy) and then Sarita has her own change of heart, even though Reena is now pregnant.
