Water Drops on Burning Rocks Movie Review 1999

Director Ozon pays tribute to late German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder by resurrecting his unproduced play. In the '70s, 50-year-old businessman Leopold (Giraudeau) picks up 19-year-old Franz (Zidi), who winds up moving in, though the mismatched duo fight constantly. When Franz's former girlfriend, Anna (Sagnier), shows up, Leopold even begins seducing her. Then transexual Vera (Thomson), Leopold's ex-girlfriend, also comes back. And it's a very messy foursome, indeed. French with subtitles.
