When an American fighter plane is shot down over southern Italy in 1943, the pilot, Italian-American Tony Marciano (Frascaro), is rescued by peasant family, the Panaleos, who nurse the wounded man despite the danger. When Tony is discovered by a neighbor, he pretends to be a family cousin and tries to fit into the community--all the while falling for young Cosima Panaleo (Torelli), even though she's engaged to Paquale (Massafra). During a community dance, everyone's feelings become dramatically clear. Italian with subtitles.
