Based on R.D. Blackmore's novel, which is set in the west country of 17th-century Britain, this swashbuckler is a star-crossed romance with an ultimately happy ending. John Ridd (Coyle) is a common farmer who discovers that Lorna (Warner), the young beauty he loves, is a member of the infamous Doone clan--a once aristocratic family that has turned outlaw. To make things worse for John, Lorna is already betrothed to the violent Carver Doone (Gillen) who will do anything to keep her.
