Tiff Wood (Ferguson) is a top sculler at Harvard who is sacrificing everything in his obession to win gold at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. And he has the best chance--until the U.S. decides to boycott the games. But Tiff refuses to give up his dream and struggles four more years towards the '84 Olympics--even though it means proving himself against a younger group of competitors.
