Three women in Islamic Tunisia try to overcome their patriarchal society and control their own lives with bitter consequences. Leila flees to the city when her father disapproves of the boy she loves; Naima may be a successful doctor but she still can't avoid a pre-arranged marriage; and Amina suffers constant abuse from her husband.
