Rather a disappointment for fans of the intelligent NBC cop series but at least the TV movie tied up some loose ends. Giardello (Kotto) is gunned down at a rally where he's campaigning for mayor of Baltimore. While G hovers between life and death, the tragedy brings Pembleton (Braugher) back to town and gets Giardello's old squad--some of whom have retired or been re-assigned--back to work on his case. A somewhat surreal ending has cameos by cast members from previous seasons.
