The Farrelly brothers produced this tale of boy-meets-girl, boy-gets-girl, boy-finds-out-girl-is-his-sister. They should've kept their money and done it themselves, it might've been a better movie. Klein stars as good-guy orphan Gilly, who meets cute with Jo (Graham), an inept hairdresser with the most screwed-up family this side of the Mansons. Her mom (Field) decides Gilly isn't upwardly mobile enough so she makes everyone think the couple are kin. Gilly sets out to set things right amid Farrelly-approved gross-out gags and humiliations galore. First-time helmer Rogers lacks the Farrelly sense of timing and sentiment, which results in most of the jokes falling flat or not developing at all.
