Animated tale from DreamWorks about a grumpy green ogre, Shrek (Myers), who's upset when some annoying fairy types overrun his swamp. So he makes a deal with the local hotshot, Lord Farquaad (Lithgow), to save his home by rescuing Princess Fiona (Diaz) from a tower that's guarded by your not-so-basic dragon type so Farquaad can marry her. Along as Shrek's unwelcome sidekick is a smart-mouthed donkey (Murphy), who insists on helping the ogre out. This one has some eye-popping visuals as well as inside jokes (and digs at Disney) to keep the adults amused. Based (loosely) on the children's book by William Steig.
