Bombastic sequel to the 1999 hit is set a decade later and finds marrieds Rick (Fraser) and Evelyn (Weisz) living in London with their 8-year-old son, Alex (Boath). Unfortunately, a reincarnated Anck-Su-Namun (Velasquez) manages to bring crispy Inhotep (Vosloo) back again to rule the world. Fehr returns as desert warrior Ardeth Bay, as does Hannah as Evelyn's ne'er-do-well brother. Wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson briefly shows up as a new villain--The Scorpion King, who's already going to have his own film. As usual there's too much going on--it's loud and crowded, sacrificing the original's unexpected charm for visual overkill.
