Divine Trash Movie Review 1998

This documentary takes a roughly chronological look at the first years of director John Waters's career. The structure is standard: home movies, interviews with parents and friends, clips from the filmmaker at work. Those who are familiar only with the films--"Pink Flamingos," "Female Trouble," etc.--will probably be surprised at what a nice, normal person Waters really is, though admittedly, he has his preoccupations and he chooses to deal with them in unusual ways.
