First-time director Lik (at 21) debuts with an urban drama about Puerto Rican-born artist Tommy (Negron) who would rather paint than be an active part of the South Bronx street gangs that surround him. Then Anglo single mom Susan (Karp) and son Allen (played by Lik) move into the 'hood, where they are immediately hasseled. Tommy befriends Allen but there's a string of not entirely unexpected tragedies that change everyone's lives.
