Kadosh Movie Review 1999

Meir (Hattab) and his wife Rivka (Abecassis) are ultra-Orthodox Jews living in the Mea Shearim quarter of Jerusalem. They have been married for 10 years and are still childless, so Meir is being pressured by his rabbi father to divorce his wife (though they love each other) and remarry. Rivka learns the fertility problem is with her husband but can do nothing because of religious tenets and she leaves their home. Meanwhile, Rivka's younger sister, Malka (Barda), contemplates abandoning her unhappy arranged marriage to be with the man she loves. Hebrew with subtitles.
