Female Convict Scorpion--Jailhouse 41 Movie Review 1972

Second in a series of Japanese exploitation films based on comic books. It's a tough-minded, extremely violent feminist prison melodrama. Forget the Philippine babes-behind-bars template. Our heroine Matsu (Meiko Kaji) takes on Terminator-like implacability as she refuses to knuckle under to inmates, warden, or guards. (The reasons behind her incarceration in a prison camp come from the first film.) Though the pace is slow, the static images of retribution are still shocking.
