The Cuban Missile Crisis seen through the eyes of President JFK, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, and presidential aide Kenny O'Donnell (Costner). Director Donaldson wisely opts not to over-dramatize what was clearly a suspenseful story to begin with (and realizes, as well, that we know the outcome). The few sacrifices of historical accuracy made in the name of dramatic license are basically harmless. Greenwood and Culp ably handle the often difficult task of portraying the brothers Kennedy, and Costner is solid as the brothers' trusted confidante. Donaldson and Costner notably worked together on 1987's "No Way Out."
