Pay It Forward Movie Review 2000

Seventh-grade student Trevor (Osment) takes his social studies assignment very seriously. His teacher Eugene (Spacey) has his students think of an idea to change the world and tells them to put it into action. Trevor comes up with the idea of doing a good deed for someone who is then supposed to do a favor for someone else as a way to "pay the favor forward." Trevor's cocktail waitress/recovering alcoholic mom Arlene (Hunt) finds herself wary of both the project and the teacher. Trevor, however, has decided to use the two of them as his first "pay it forward" subjects. Cloyingly emotional and more than a little manipulative. Based on the novel by Catherine Ryan Hyde.
