Silent film fare in two parts. Ayan (Veidt) is the Maharajah of Eschanapur. But all his wealth and power has not prevented Ayan's wife, Princess Savitri, from falling in love with British officer MacAllan. Ayan plots to built a massive tomb to imprison the woman who betrayed him but yogi Ramigani prophesizes that such revenge will destroy the prince's life. Huge budget (for the time) and lavish spectacle, which was all created at director May's German studio. Adapted from the novel by Thea von Haubou.
