Renard (Thaw) is a Catholic priest who returns to his home village, Saint-Josse des Bois, in 1940. The town is filled with Nazis who are using it as an embarkation point and Renard finds himself involved in the local resistance movement even as he draws the attention of the Gestapo and the locals themselves cope with the Germans in their own ways. Filmed at Saint Valery sur Somme on the Picardy coast of France.
