Widowed Irish-American Nora (Hunt) gets a job at Carnegie Hall and raises her son Tony to be a talented pianist. But the adult Tony (Prince) develops an interest in jazz and popular music that his ma despises. They have a rift, Tony goes on the road with a band, marries singer Ruth (O'Drsicoll), and becomes a famous jazz pianist. After years pass, Ruth decides it's about time to reunite mother and son and Carnegie Hall plays a big part in her scheme. Schmaltzy story showcases a number of big musical stars of the day.
